Thermography and the Petrochemical Industry
The use of thermograpghy in petrochemical plants is frequently used for detecting leaks in the work place, helping save time and prevent hold up of production.
Thermal Imaging Can help with
Leakage - Thermal surveys are able to detect leaks on pipework and components across the plant, this helps to keep manufacturing moving whilst keeping everyone safe at the same time.
Holes in Pipes - Thermography can detect holes in pipes through temperature differentiation before the pipe causes damage to the production process.
Pumps - Infrared thermography can identify how pumps are working, ensuring they don’t overheat and cause damage.
Motor Defects - Thermal imaging can identify low resistance through temperature readings, this helps the motor keep working to its full potential without effecting plant production or employees.
Thermography is one of the only procedures that can identify faults in petrochemical plants safely and efficiently, due to using high definition equipment engineers are able to see detailed pictures of plant equipment without having to effect the production status.
As thermal cameras have the capabilities of spotting faults before they occur, they have the ability to extend the life cycle of plant equipment and identify energy savings for your industry.

The cameras above are perfect for conducting a survey on a petrochemical plant. However, surveys must be conducted by a qualified personnel who is familiar with the correct procedures.
What you receive -
Before the assessment is conducted you will be issued with a risk assessment and a method statement, as well as any additional information you may require for the petrochemical plant survey. As part of the survey you will receive a full and detailed report of our findings, including both thermal and digital photos of any key components, tailored to meet insurance standards.
Once your report has been delivered, don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have regarding our service.
Here at Thermascan Ltd all of our engineers hold certified level 2 qualifications in thermography with the experience of test and inspection
